A check valve, also known as a Non-Return Valve (NRV), is a self-actuating safety device designed to allow media flow in only one direction while automatically preventing backflow. It works using the line fluid’s own pressure: forward media flow pushes an internal closure element (such as a hinged disc, piston, or spring-loaded ball) off its seat to open the valve, while line depressurization or reverse flow forces the element firmly back against the seat to seal the line.
